First of all I HAVE BEEN WHERE YOU ARE NOW! I was in terrible shape. I had gained over 54 pounds of fat after an auto bicycle accident where I received numerous muscular injuries and suffered with vertigo and migraine like headaches EVERYDAY for over 2 -1/2 years! I was so used to doing such things as biking, playing tennis, jogging, Teach and Train in mixed martial arts, hiking, baseball, etc.. It was normal for me to ride my bike prior to breakfast, during lunch and then again in the evening. Easily I would ride 80 miles or more a week. I would even ride in the rain and snow. A lot of people who knew me called me the Jack LaLanne of Bloomsburg. I was a fit and active guy. I just hated to sit around and do nothing!
The accident changed all of that. All I wanted to do was stay in bed and get back in bed as soon as I could at the end of each day. Of course this did not do much for my physique or personality. I became short tempered, hard to get along with and I considered myself a GRUMPY JERK ! (so did my wife)
I was so out of shape I could not walk up a flight of 10 stairs without getting out of breath. My diet went from super nutritious to a constant diet of fast food, and or processed foods. (I knew better) Every night while I was in bed watching movies I would eat an entire bag of microwave popcorn smothered in butter and powdered cheese and wash it down with a bottle or two of beer! I am not sure of the calorie count but I am sure it is hovering around 1,000 or more! Thats where I put on the 54 pounds of FAT! Sitting on my butt did not help much either.
My normal anxiety free and pain free lifestyle had turned upside down. The daily vertigo kept me from my former active lifestyle. I could not do the simple active things I used to do without experiencing more pain. To top things off the various pain medications that I was taking caused NEW problems for me.
