Boxing, One Of The Hardest Things You Have Ever Done By John Phillips, Editor Of Kitakitz.com The daily demands of boxing training is not for everybody. In fact most people quit before they can enjoy the benefits of their hard work
One of the hardest fitness training programs you can get involved in is BOXING. With the various and demanding cardio exercises you will be dripping in sweat in a very short period of time. Several of my clients previously thought they were training hard doing such things as weight lifting, football, track and field, and various other sports. It was not until I got them into my boxing gym did they realize they had never really had a HARD workout.
It is not an uncommon thing for new clients who were very excited about their new adventure in boxing training to suddenly Fail to show up for their scheduled session. I keep a daily journal of my clients activities including the excuses they use to explain why they will not be showing up for their session.
EXAMPLES: It was my wife's birthday (did you not know this for a YEAR?) My cat got sick and we need to take her to the vet (cats have 9 lives!) My kids missed their bus ride so I have to get them (they can walk) I could not sleep last night, I'm too tired to workout (only on training days) My car would not start or I have a flat tire (works every other day) I had to work mandatory overtime (seems to occur only on training days)
As you can see the excuses are pretty lame, but I expect it. I have been doing this kind of thing for a long time and in most cases, people are generally LAZY. They want to look or feel like a certain athlete but when it comes time to actually doing the work to be like their favorite star, they just do not have what it takes.
Every once in awhile, I get to meet some really motivated and hard working individuals and that is when this line of work becomes very rewarding. They always show up, want to pick my brain and ask questions about their training. And they really work hard! That is the secret to everything in life. WORK HARD, WORK SMART and you should be able to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. It works for everything I have ever been involved in and it surely applies to BOXING.
